Cause and effect text is a type of paragraph that contains the author's analysis of cause and effect.  This paragraph begins with the causes which are outlined at the beginning of the sentence and is then drawn to a general conclusion which is the result of the described causes. Cause and effect are divided into two, which are followed by a noun and verb or clause.


 

You can usually easily identify a sentence that contains a cause-and-effect relationship if the sentence

  • Due to
  • Because of
  • Owing to
  • Thanks to
  • As a consequence of
  • As a result of
  • Because
  • Since
  • As
  • For
  • etc.

contains words or phrases such as:

        Cause and effect + Noun

Rumus 1:  Connector + Cause, + Effect

Connector: due to, owing to, because of, as a result of, as a consequence of

Example :

Due to the storm we cannot go to the beach.

(connector) + (cause) +(effect)

 

 Another example :

  • Owing to her kindness, Mia gave her a gift. 
  • Because of this cooking book, I am able to cook my own meal.

Rumus 2:  Effect + Connector + Cause

I got sick due to the cold weather.

(effect) + (connector) + (cause)

Another example:

  • The car was broken as a result of her recklessness
  • Alvin got a warning as a consequence of his laziness.
  • She was late because of her bad sleeping habit. 

    Cause and effect + Verb or Clause

    Connector : because, since, for, hence, thus, therefore, thereby, consequently, as a result
    Example :

  • Because her brother lives in Jakarta, she must visit him every month. 
  • This bag is expensive since the famous brand Chanel made it
  • My arms are hurt. Hence, i cannot swim today.
  • As our teacher has suggested to stay at home, she gives us a pile of homework. 
  • He is invited to the party for he’s one of the funniest guys in school.
  • They haven’t turned 17 yet, as a result, they cannot join the international seminar.
